Route du Rhum 2018: Quable joins forces with Nicolas Jossier

40 years of the Route du Rhum!

On 4 November, 123 skippers will set sail on the legendary Route du Rhum transatlantic race. The route follows the iconic trading route linking Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, covering more than 3,500 miles.

The Route du Rhum at a glance:

• A solo race, non-stop and without assistance.
• The record is held by Loïck Peyron at 7 days, 15 hours and 32 seconds, at an average speed of 22.93 knots.
• The 2018 edition introduces a new category, ‘the Ultims’ (a generation of boats capable of ‘flying’), which could cross the finish line in 6 days, according to Mathieu Sarrot, head of organisation.

Quable is partnering with skipper Nicolas Jossier.

It all began with a genuine story of camaraderie between Quable’s founder and sailing enthusiast, François-Emmanuel, and Nicolas Jossier, a professional skipper. A great rapport at sea naturally blossomed into a friendship on dry land, and the two friends are now inseparable.

For Quable, Nicolas Jossier is much more than a friend; he is a model of resilience in his sport and for his family – an inspiration to us all. At the very highest level, his life was turned upside down by illness, and he was forced to put his career and his passion on hold to treat lymphoma. Nicolas overcame this obstacle with courage and determination. Today, he is making a comeback and sailing once more, having rediscovered his joy and with renewed ambition.

His Route du Rhum project has a human focus, and Nicolas wanted to partner with sponsors who uphold values that are important to him. Quable is therefore proud to support Nicolas alongside ‘France Lymphome Espoir’, the ‘French Diabetes Federation’ and ‘Manorga’.
