Data Mapping

Data mapping is the process of matching fields or attributes between two different systems or formats. For example, it lets you link the "product reference" field of an ERP to the "SKU" field of a PIM, or adapt catalogue data for export to a marketplace.

In e-commerce, mapping is essential for synchronising product information across multiple tools (ERP, PIM, CRM, marketplaces). It ensures data is correctly interpreted and used, whatever the distribution channel. In a PIM, mapping lets you import, transform and export product data smoothly, avoiding format or structure errors.

Effective data mapping reduces the risk of errors, speeds up catalogue updates and improves information consistency across every channel. It's a key lever for a successful omnichannel strategy, ensuring optimal distribution of product data.
