Digital Product Passport

The Digital Product Passport is a concept that aims to provide a complete, traceable digital identity for every product.

This concept is part of the European Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR), which seeks to improve the circularity, energy performance and other environmental aspects of products placed on the European market.

The PLR accompanies a product throughout its life cycle, from design to end-of-life. It contains detailed information about the product, such as its components, technical characteristics, conditions of use, environmental performance, and recycling or reuse options. This data is stored in a secure and accessible way, often via technologies such as blockchain, to guarantee its integrity and authenticity.

The aim of the Digital Product Passport is to promote transparency, traceability and sustainability in the product value chain. By providing accurate and reliable information, the DPP enables consumers to make informed choices, companies to better manage their resources and reduce their ecological footprint, and regulators to monitor and improve industrial practices.
