EAN/UPC
What Is an EAN/UPC Code?
An EAN (European Article Number) or UPC (Universal Product Code) is a unique identifier assigned to a product, allowing it to be recognized and tracked throughout the supply and sales chain. These codes, represented as bars or numbers, are used worldwide to simplify inventory management, in-store and online sales, and data exchange between partners.
In e-commerce and marketing, EAN/UPC codes are essential for listing products on marketplaces (such as Amazon or Cdiscount), synchronizing product information across systems (ERP, PIM, websites), and ensuring accurate item identification. For example, an EAN code helps prevent reference errors and speeds up order and delivery processes.
