What is the ETIM standard?

ETIM (Electrotechnical Information Model) is a standardized international classification designed specifically for technical products in the electrotechnical sector. It is used to describe, organize and structure product data in a clear, precise and unified way.

This model is based on a hierarchy of specific classes and attributes, assigning each product a category and standardized characteristics. For example, an electrical cable is classified according to its material (copper, aluminum), cross-section, rated voltage, or weather resistance. This standardization makes it easier to compare products, optimize searches and manage catalogs, particularly in a multichannel or international environment.

ETIM is particularly useful for manufacturers, distributors and specifiers, as it improves the quality of product data and reduces ambiguity in commercial exchanges. Integrated into a PIM (Product Information Management), this standard makes it possible to enrich and distribute product information consistently, while ensuring compliance with the expectations of technical markets.
