As you’re no doubt aware, we haven’t always been a 100% remote company – in fact, quite the opposite. Before the Covid crisis, Quable was a Paris-based start-up with its own office (for real). Following the lockdowns, we decided to switch to fully remote working, and today Quablers come from all over: Rennes, Brest, Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence, Ajaccio and even Réunion!
Whilst we continue to develop the Quable PIM, ‘Work From Anywhere’ is much more than just a way of working; for us, it’s a genuine philosophy of life that benefits both the company and its employees.
The benefits for Quable
We now recruit our future stars without any geographical constraints, which gives us the opportunity to attract even more talent and raise our profile.
Wherever they are, our future employees can apply for roles and carry out their daily tasks from anywhere, as there’s no obligation for them to physically visit the office.
Working 100% remotely has also enabled us to boost productivity: no more coffee breaks in the open-plan office, noise disturbances or other disruptions which, without us realising it, waste a fair bit of time. Everyone, from the comfort of their own home, can work wherever they choose without being disturbed by any distractions.
Although this 100% remote model enables economies of scale (on premises and other day-to-day expenses), this is not the main benefit for Quable, and, in our view, should not be the primary reason for switching to remote working. This transition to remote working has significantly improved the wellbeing of Quablers and, as a result, their motivation and commitment to the company (low staff turnover).
All this sounds wonderful (and it is), but for Quable, the decision to adopt a 100 per cent remote working model must be made for the right reasons, and the company must provide its employees with the means to create this remote lifestyle in a healthy and stress-free way (relocation allowance, provision of IT equipment, etc.).
The benefits for Quablers
There are many, and we’re delighted about them: for us, ‘Work From Anywhere’ at Quable is synonymous with trust and transparency towards our managers and Quable as a whole. No one has anything to hide; we can view everyone’s calendars to see if someone is available, if they need to concentrate and therefore shouldn’t be disturbed… etc.
The bottom line is that the most important thing is that the work has been done and done well, regardless of the conditions or where it was carried out.
Quite literally, ‘Work From Anywhere’ allows us to work from wherever we like: from the depths of the Ardèche, on a boat, in a yurt… as long as the Wi-Fi connection is working. This way of working also allows us to live wherever we choose: not necessarily in a big city, where most job opportunities tend to be concentrated, but in less densely populated and more rural areas, which are better suited to the lifestyle of some Quablers.

Working from home saves us a considerable amount of time: avoiding public transport, which can add one, two or even three hours to our day, means we can reallocate that time to activities or moments that bring us greater joy: spending more time with family, taking part in sport, getting involved in community and/or personal projects, or simply doing nothing at all. Over the course of a week, some people can save between 5 and 15 hours – a precious and significant amount of time.
In reality, Quable bends the rules a little and isn’t 100 per cent remote, as we have offices in Rennes, Aix-en-Provence and Paris, but this flexible remote working arrangement gives employees a real choice.
The ‘Work From Anywhere’ philosophy allows Quablers to make their work serve their lives in general, rather than the other way round. In fact, this way of living and working mirrors our PIM: a SaaS solution that our customers can use from anywhere and at any time.
We’re convinced of two things: 100% remote working is the future of work (and, for us, the present), and we’ll never go back!
